Experience a steam train arriving at the station or eavesdrop on conversations of passengers and railway workers from days gone by, with the revolutionary Digital Soundscape system.
The revolutionary Digital Soundscape system is one of the principal attractions at Archer Park Station and Steam Tram Museum.
The Soundscape consists of over eight hours of sound effects and professionally-acted dialog all stored digitally on a computer hard disk. No tapes or CDs are used!
These sounds are filtered direct from the hard disk through a bank of amplifiers, which in turn distribute the sound effects to the thirty independent speakers located throughout the museum.
The Digital Soundscape System brings the museum to life. A number of speakers located along the platform, for instance, replicate the sounds of a train entering the station, effectively creating a "Ghost Train" experience. The sound also works in conjunction with the station denizens , allowing each of them to tell their story of life at Archer Park in a bygone age.
